Play inside the steering rack is a common problem but if you have replaced the steering rack, even with a used part, I would expect the knocking noise to change slightly i.e. in tone/depth. If there is no change at all, then I would recommend looking over all of the joints/mounts and wheel bearings but you can also send us your original steering rack to be tested and inspected.

I bought a second hand rack and problem is still their. Are these racks bad for knocking on Uneven roads when they wear??? Thanks martin
